FAQ

About WisR:

What is WisR?

WisR is a job platform for active retirees!

WisR stands for experience and expertise, for know-how and social skills, for sensitivity, and the desire to pass these qualities on to younger people. We stand for a sustainable workforce that appreciates everyone!

Our goal is to bring generations together and to facilitate the transfer of knowledge between young and old.

WisR is for anyone who wants to remain active in retirement and wishes to pass on their experience to future-oriented companies on a part-time and project basis. At the same time, the platform opens up the promising “silver market” to companies seeking a direct path to a pool of experts.

If you would like to share your experience and pass on your knowledge, or if you are looking for exciting and meaningful things to do, or if you would like to help shape the future, register now for free!

PS: WisR is pronounced like “wiser” - not older, but wiser! :)

Who is a Silver Ager?

The short version:

“Silver Agers” are people who are close to or past the official retirement age who wish to continue passing on their experience and expertise.

The somewhat longer version: 😉

“Silver Agers” - as we understand it - are people who actively help shape the future, pass on their knowledge, and continue to learn new things. WisR Silver Agers are 60+, open-minded and optimistic, enthusiastic and future-oriented, courageous and authentic, responsible, and willing to compromise. Silver Agers are not older, but wiser!

Silver Ager is just one term among many: Best Ager, Free Ager, or Ageless. Out of these options, we prefer Best Ager! What about you?

Is there a term that describes you even better? Do you feel negatively represented by the term “Silver Ager” (or any of the other terms)? Please send us an e-mail! We look forward to your feedback!

Am I allowed to earn additional income on top of my pension?

Yes! But, depending on the type of pension, different rules may apply.

For your annual taxes in Austria, all current wages and salaries (without special payments) and your pension must be added together and your social security contributions should be deducted. If your total annual income does not exceed €12,000, you do not have to pay any extra taxes. If this amount is exceeded, you will usually be required to pay additional taxes - the amount depends on your total annual income and the income tax you have already paid.

Depending on the type pension, however, there are different rules for additional income.

The Austrian Arbeiterkammer has compiled the following information (in German):

Steuerliche Konsequenzen

How does the Additional Income Calculator work?

With the help of tax experts, WisR has designed an exclusive additional income calculator (in German) that shows you with just a few clicks how much you can earn in your pension. You can read more about it on our blog (also in German). The additional income calculator is only available at WisR!

NB.: The additional income calculator was designed to help you with the most common types of pensions in Austria and only provides a general overview. For more specific information, please consult a tax expert.
