In which countries is WisR available?

At the moment, WisR is available in Germany and Austria. But, people can register from all over the world.

Is WisR for me? I still work or have recently retired. Am I too old/young?

WisR is for anybody who would like to pass on their experience, expertise, and knowledge! There is no age limit or minimum age but for the time being, our service is mainly aimed at people aged 59 and over. But if you ask us, age is only a number ;)

On WisR, you will find project work, part-time, freelance, or seasonal jobs.

For Senior Talents

Who is a Senior Talent?
Senior Talents are people who are close to or past the official retirement age who wish to continue sharing their expertise.

Who is a Senior Talent?

The short version:

“Senior Talents” are people who are close to or past the official retirement age who wish to continue passing on their experience and expertise.

The somewhat longer version: 😉

“Senior Talents” - as we understand it - are people who actively help shape the future, pass on their knowledge, and continue to learn new things. WisR Senior Talents are 59+, open-minded and optimistic, enthusiastic and future-oriented, courageous and authentic, responsible, and willing to compromise. Senior Talents are not older, but wiser!

Senior Talent is just one term among many: Best Ager, Free Ager, or Ageless. Out of these options, we prefer Best Ager! What about you?

Is there a term that describes you even better? Do you feel negatively represented by the term “Senior Talent” (or any of the other terms)? Please send us an e-mail! We look forward to your feedback!

Am I allowed to earn additional income on top of my pension?
Yes!

But depending on the type of pension, different rules may apply.

Am I allowed to earn additional income on top of my pension?

Yes! But, depending on the type of pension, different rules may apply.

For your annual taxes in Austria, all current wages and salaries (without special payments) and your pension must be added together and your social security contributions should be deducted. If your total annual income does not exceed €12,000, you do not have to pay any extra taxes. If this amount is exceeded, you will usually be required to pay additional taxes - the amount depends on your total annual income and the income tax you have already paid.

Depending on the type pension, however, there are different rules for additional income.

Please refer to our article “Everything you need to know about additional income as a retiree“ for more information.

How does the Additional Income Calculator work?

With the help of tax experts, WisR has designed an exclusive additional income calculator (in German) that shows you with just a few clicks how much you can earn in your pension. You can read more about it on our blog (also in German). The additional income calculator is only available at WisR!

NB.: The additional income calculator was designed to help you with the most common types of pensions in Austria and only provides a general overview. For more specific information, please consult a tax expert.

Are the jobs on WisR full-time jobs?

All possible types of employment may be available: part-time/full-time, project work, seasonal, freelance, etc.

However, supply and demand, as well as communications between a Senior Talent and a company determine the type of employment and may vary on a case by case basis.

We would like to point out that information about the minimum salary for a job in Austria must be provided by employers.

What’s a Freelancer?

Freelancer means “freier Mitarbeiter” in Germany and “freier Dienstnehmer” in Austria.

As a freelancer, you have more freedom than employees who are permanently employed at a company. This has many advantages but also some disadvantages. As far as your pay is concerned, a freelancer you are not bound by the collective bargaining agreement. However, you are not bound to a specific location and can do the agreed work from anywhere, e.g. from home (“home office”) or in your favourite café.

Can I be self-employed as a retiree?
Yes!

However, your pension type will determine the resulting effects of any additional income on your pension, social security, and income tax.

I want to be self-employed.

In our Guide to self-employment you can find out all about the different types of employment outside of standard employment.

What does OK Boomer mean?

The Millennials’ dismissive response to baby boomers is all over the media. What’s behind it and what does the expression mean? Are we sliding into a new kind of age discrimination with “OK Boomer“?
